PES is a specialty energy services company that develops and implements
innovative energy projects that feature advanced efficiency technologies,
solar electric and other renewable energy systems, and combined
heating, cooling and power.
The Companys roots trace back to a Department of Energy funded
research project conducted at Princeton University in the late 1970s.
The goal of that project was to better understand and more effectively
address energy loss in homes.
The internationally acclaimed outcome of that research was the emergence
of a systems approach to building energy efficiency
and the advent of advanced technologies such as infrared thermography,
blower doors and smoke tracing to diagnose and repair
both HVAC and building envelope deficiencies. Technicians trained
in these methods and technologies became known as house doctors.
In 1981, the researchers created a commercial franchise known as
Princeton Energy Partners, and that group went on to change not
only the way houses were retrofitted to save energy, but also how
they were designed and constructed.
In 1999, Princeton Energy Systems was spun off with the intent of
coupling advanced energy efficiency technologies and practices with
renewable and clean on-site electricity generation. Whereas Princeton
Energy Partners was focused on homes and small buildings, Princeton
Energy Systems works with commercial, industrial and institutional
customers.
To date, PES has developed, designed and/or installed over 3 MW
of photovoltaic (PV) systems for customers in over six states. Members
of the PES team have experience developing, building and/or operating
over 600 MW of cogeneration. Virtually all of PESs projects
have combined energy efficiency retrofits with on-site generation.
With this in mind, the firm remains true to its origins as a systems
company we address how to save energy as well as how to produce
it on-site.
