2003 - PES receives Energy Harvest Grant from PA Dept. of Environmental Protection to deploy Stirling Engine at Municipal Wastewater Facilities

PES received a Pennsylvania Energy Harvest Grant to partially fund project development and implementation activities for the installation of 1.1 megawatts of biomass power generation capacity at wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) throughout the state of Pennsylvania. This gas is often flared or vented off into the atmosphere when it could be used as a renewable source of energy. This grant will help promote the market penetration of technologies capable of burning low-grade biogas, thus laying the groundwork for future development of renewable energy projects using biogas that would otherwise be wasted.
